It also leads man"s minds into a new field.GIS is widely used in military development. It accelerates the progress of military automatization, and supplies abundant, accurate and real-time info for the military researches and decision-makings. It has become an important aspect in the military development. Comparing with its being used on lands, the setup and development of marine GIS is more difficult and urgent.This paper discusses*the key techniques of marine GIS at domestic and international current situations. It points out the main aspects of the solution and makes lots of improvements. Its main contents are listed as below:1. Ship position techniques.2. Position techniques based on unpiloted-airplane system.3. Establishment and update of database for marine GIS.
