计算机的出现使传统印刷工业进入光与电的新时代。页面描述语言PostScript是近年来电子出版领域出现的一项重要技术。短短几年，它已成为印前工业的事实标准。本文基于一个实际应用系统——PostScript Interpreter的设计与实现。文章对可能牵涉到的大部分相关内容从应用的角度上进行了介绍与探讨。全文包括以下几个方面： 1 PostScript语言 介绍PostScript语言的语法规范、数据类型、操作符语义和程序执行环境等等 2 功能子系统划分 这部分内容有 语法分析子系统、执行子系统、虚存管理子系统、字典管理子系统、字体管理子系统、彩色管理子系统和页面输出子系统。在各章节中分别介绍了各子系统的功能、重要数据结构和算法。 3 一些关键技术的讨论 这部分内容穿插于相关章节中，主要有存储管理技术、颜色转换技术、字体还原技术、半色调加网技术和分段输出技术。
The appearance of computer brings traditional printing industry into a new era of light and electronics. One of page description languages--PostScript is a new technology in area of electronic publishing in recent years. After serveral years , it has become the de facto standard of pre-publishing industry. Baseing on the design and implementation of a practical appliction system-- PostScript Interuptor, this article introduces and discusses most content related to this system from the view point of engineering. This thesis include:1.PostScript Language In this part , the rules of grammar, data types, semantics of operator and program execution enviroment etc. are introduced.2 Divition of functional sub-systems The system is divided as followings: grammar analysis sub-system,execution sub-system, VMM management sub-sytem, dictionary arrangement sub-sytem, font manipulation sub-sytem, color rendering sub-system and page output sub-system.. The functions of each sub-system, important data structures and algorithms are introduced in respective chapters.3 Discussion on some key technologies The details of discussion distributes in some related chapters and sections. The key technologies include memory arrangement technology, color conversion technology, font rendering technology and halftone screen technology and multi-segment output technology.
