Its various patterns in story and theme as well as its heritage and innovation in style symbolize the high standard and strict beginning at that time, putting a high value on Chinese musical culture in 20th century.Two aspects have been totally discussed in the article. Horizontally, It starts from the development and appearance of Chinese artistic songs, including reasons. Vertically, the story and the style have been analyzed, which claim that there is no apparent personal trace or individualism compared with their European counterparts in Romanticism. Actually, they show their concerns and responsibility on society and life through this musical style. In addition, Chinese composers combined essence of highly absorbed Austrian and German art song with Chinese traditional culture. Thus, a considerable degree of Chinese characters was represented in its artistic style.
