Students acquire physics knowledge, get physics ideas and obtain research ways of physicists in this process. It is some way of learning that reflects the practical operation of science itself. This article has analysed the aims and situations of physics teaching in middle school and pointed out the necessity of carrying out the Inquiry-based learning in middle school physics teaching. And this paper has made researching discussions on the basic meaning and essential character of this method based on concerning study conclusion home and abroad. Also this method has been experimented in practical teaching. Practice shows that students who use this way in learning have more interests in physics learning, have already improved their ability of discovering, analysing and solving problems, and they have changed their past passive ways of learning. Therefore, the Inquiry-based Learning is an effective way to realize teaching aims in middle school physics teaching.
