期货投资基金是期货市场发展到一定阶段的产物，是期货市场创新发展的客观要求。期货投资基金作为期货市场机构投资者的生力军，对于培育期货市场理性投资理念、规范期货市场行为、保证期货市场套期保值和价格发现功能的实现以及促进期货市场稳健发展具有积极的作用。但期货投资基金毕竟是一个高风险的投资工具，而国内对它的研究还比较薄弱，尤其是缺乏对期货投资基金理论的系统性研究和国外期货市场的实证研究。 本文正是在以往研究成果的基础上，综合本人所学以及大量国内外资料及市场数据，在深入剖析国外期货投资基金产生和发展历程的基础上，分别从改善和优化投资组合；规避股市下跌的系统性风险；加快我国期货市场健康发展；保护中小投资者利益：参与全球投资市场等角度分析了我国建立期货投资基金的必要性和紧迫性。从当前期货市场运作现状；期货市场的运行规律；充裕的社会投资资金及国内外基金业的成功经验四个方面分析了我国发展期货投资基金的可行性，指出我国已经基本具备设立期货投资基金的条件。并进一步讨论了在我国发展期货投资基金应该采取的组织结构框架和运作管理模式。最后给出了在我国发展期货投资基金的政策建议，指出我们需要从建立试点、完善基金相关法律法规、制度创新、人才培养、完善信息披露制度和基金监管以及加强投资者教育等几个方面来入手解决，具有很强的可操作性。力求对我国期货投资基金的培育和发展起到重要的借鉴作用。
