交叉路口常常在城市中起到节点的作用，建筑作为交叉路口形态的主要构成要素对城市意象的形成具有重要的意义。它们是城市意象的“锚固点”，人们经由它们而更多的认识城市，了解城市，评价城市；交叉路口建筑两边的街道空间形态往往有所不同，它的形态处理的好坏关系到街道空间是否能够自然地转换，所以它们是街道空间的“转换点”。由于交通便利，交叉路口周围总是汇聚着来自不同方向的人们，因而也是城市生活“汇聚点”。与其它位置的建筑相比，交叉路口建筑的形态设计受到的制约因素较为严格和典型，因此有一定的难度。本文的写作也正是希望总结出一些对实际设计有帮助的关于交叉路口建筑形态设计的原则和规律。 本文第一章为绪论，论述了课题的意义；介绍了国内外的研究情况；明确了建筑形态一词的含义；确定了论文的研究范围和研究方法。第二章对东西方不同历史时期的交叉路口建筑做了一番回顾，力图在历史的研究中找到一些交叉路口建筑形态设计的规律，最后还对导致东西方差异的因素做了一些简要的概括。第三章为制约因素分析，研究了交叉路口建筑形态设计中存在的种种制约因素，这些制约因素主要来自道路格局，交通组织周边建筑；内部空间以及结构要求等方面。它们既给设计带来挑战又是设计创新的契机。第四～六章为原则和方法的总结，提出了交叉路口建筑形态设计的三大原则——整体性、方向性、可识别性；论证了这些原则的合理性；并阐述了实现这些原则的一些具体方法。
The intersection often plays a nodal role in the city. As one of the Key element whitch Compose the intersection of the street ,building is important for forming of the city image.They are the point where" the anchor is Fixed more firmly " for the city image. People via them to understand and appraise the city. The space shapes of the streets both sides of the intersection building are often different. If the form of the building can be deal with well, the street space will be joined naturally. So they are "exchange points "of the street. Because of the convenient Traffic, The intersection building is always assembling the persons coming from different directions, so it is the point that the urban life is presented. Compare with the buildings in the other positions, Facing more Strict and model restriction factor, we design the buildings around the intersection of the street. Writing of this text is to summarize some principle and law for the design of intersection buildings.Chapter 1 is the introduction, describing the meaning of the subject; introducing the research situation both at home and abroad; defining the meaning of building-form; confirming the research range of the thesis and research approach. Chapter 2 retrospect to the intersection building in different historical periods between east and west, trying to find the law in designing the buildings of intersections, also did some brief generalizations to the factor which caused the difference between east and west finally. Chapter 3 studied some sorts of restriction factors existing in the building form design of the intersection, these restrain factor mainly coming from the pattern of the road, the traffic; the inside space and structure. They are bringing us challenges as well as opportunities. The chapter 4 to 6 summary some principle and method, and put forwardintersection building the three principles-integrity, directionality, legibility; haveproved the rationality of them; and has explained some concrete methods to realize these principles.
