While the current state is no proper measuring instrument efficiently and precisely meet it nationally.The paper presents a visualized ultrasonic successive thickness measuring system for steel pipes, which primarily consisting of a ultrasonic measuring device and a control software. Using it, not only can we probe the wall thickness of kinds of rigid pipe successively and speedily , but also display curves of thickness in multi-graphs and alert when its value exceeds the standard by the computer inspecting system, furthermore, save and check the data.In the paper, the importance and the current state of the steel pipe ultrasonic thickness inspecting are investigated firstly. Following the principle of the ultrasonic thickness measuring is presented detailedly. Lastly, the software and hardware of the system are explored at large, of which the inspecting software consisting of a main program and a virtual device drive program named HY6070.VxD is emphasized.With the help of the system, the online inspection of the steel pipe automatic manufacture can realized easily, resolving the problem of low efficiency and incomplete defects contrary to the conventional thickness measuring means. The effect response of the measuring system from market is very well.
