论文标题:在关联理论的框架下对隐喻的研究 An Observation of Metaphor from the Perspective of Relevance Theory 论文作者 论文导师 陶炀,论文学位 硕士,论文专业 英语语言文学 论文单位 辽宁师范大学,点击次数 67,论文页数 55页File Size1271K 2007-05-01论文网 http://www.lw23.com/lunwen_376290217/ metaphor;; relevance;; Ostensive-Inferential Model 本文旨在探讨关联理论框架下的隐喻含义的阐释及其推导过程。关联理论认为,言语交际之所以能够顺利进行,是因为交际双方都遵循着关联原则,即根据相关联的信息来认知事物。关联理论认为隐喻属于一般话语,不需要特殊的解释能力和程序,它是言语交际中一般认知推理能力自然发展的结果,从而揭示了隐喻理解的本质。关联理论对隐喻的阐释,拓展了以往的隐喻理论,同时进一步表明:隐喻不仅是一种语言现象,更重要的还是一种思维方式,它使我们能更好地认识世界。本文从传统的修辞观、语用观、认知观等方面对隐喻的概念作了界定;对国内外隐喻研究的历史和现状作了简要回顾,这主要包括传统的“对比论”和“替代论”、隐喻互动理论、隐喻认知观以及隐喻的语用观。本文采用对比的方法,从关联、语境、明示推理交际三方面对Sperber和Wilson提出的关联理论的主要内容作了介绍,以此探讨关联理论对隐喻阐释的理据,并对明示-推理的交际模式作了简要描述。本文采用束定芳(2000)的隐喻分类,通过分别举例,尝试以关联理论的推理模式来对隐喻含义进行推理。本文还对关联理论隐喻阐释观进行了后续思考,这主要指其理论价值和意义以及在实际运用中存在的问题。 This thesis is to explore how metaphors are understood within the framework of relevance theory. Relevance theory suggests that communication can go smoothly only because the two communicators follow the principle of relevance一to understand the world according to related information. It also reveals the nature of metaphor interpretation, thinking that metaphor belongs to ordinary utterances, which requires no special interpretive abilities or procedures: it is a natural outcome of some very general cognitive and inferential abilities in verbal communication. The explanation of relevance theory for metaphors develops the existing metaphor theories and further indicates that metaphor is not only a linguistic phenomenon, but more important, a way of thinking, which can help us understand the world in a better way. This thesis gives the definition of metaphor from the perspectives of traditional rhetorical view, pragmatic view and cognitive view, etc.; it also takes a general historical survey of some classical metaphor studies abroad, such as the traditional comparison/substitute view, cognition view and pragmatic view, and some present metaphor research at home. This thesis gives a brief introduction to relevance theory proposed by Sperber and Wilson on a comparative approach from three points: relevance, context and ostensive-inferential communication, by which some motivations of relevance theory’s explanation for metaphors are explored, then the ostensive-inferential model is further described. This thesis adopts Shu Dingfang’s classification (2000) and attempts to put the ostensive-inferential mode to the practical application by interpreting different types of metaphors. This thesis also gives a follow-up thinking about relevance theory’s explanation for metaphors, which mainly refers to its theoretical value and significance, and some existing problems in practical application as well.
