The paper has seven chapters and introduces in general the design and realization of WBT based on Embedded Linux operating system.The First chapter gives an outline of WBT "s architecture, principle, technical features, perfbrmances, and analyses its development trend. The paper also introduces the Embedded Linux operating system, and analyses the advantages of embedded operating systems.The second chapter introduces the details of remote desktop protocol RDP and Windows based Terminal service"s vvorking flow.The third chapter gives an general design of WBT based on Embedded Linux . It supports Windows- Terminal, Browser/Server and X- Terminal modes; It enable to apply a lots of hardware platform. As enable to be customized, handled easy, and maintained simply, it named Liny WBT also.The fourth chapter presents detailly the design and realization of RDP client softvvare. It states how to realize RDP, how to customize Linux kernel, how to integrate software into hardware, how to realize the client"s management.The fifth chapter analyses the principle of the Audio and Video play as the RDP extended function.The sixth chapter introduces the basic principle of browser design and states the design and realization of embedded browser.the last chapter analyses Windows based Terminars market situation and vocational applications, and gives out a series of Windows based Terminal system"s vocational application schemes.After trial and error, the current Liny WBT can already nm stably as complete systems and they also have already had their own market in some vocations such as education, enterprise and government.The research on Windows based Terminal introduced in the paper, is a successful application of MircoSoft"s RDP technology and Embedded Linux operating system. I believe it will play a great role when solving related problems in the future.
