“有多少个后现代主义者，就有多少个后现代主义”表明了后现代主义概念本身的模糊性、丰富性和不确定性。尽管这发源于西方的社会、文化和艺术思潮本身的这些特征及其发展的不可捉摸性。但在全球化语境下，尤其自“五.四”以来，我国在“科学”、“民主”口号下所进行的以西方为标准的现代化建设过程中不可避免地要和西方文化发生正面的冲突、交锋。尤其80年代的改革开放和90年代的市场经济的逐步推进，使得我们对传统文化的现代形态转换和西方文化身份的确定，显得迫切：这不仅关系着本土艺术文化的现代体系的重建问题，并且在很长时间内会影响我国现代化建设走向的信心问题。对后现代主义的研究有助于我们认清西方社会，文化所面临的窘境和问题，对我国的现代艺术文化形态建设无疑是一种有价值的参照。况且，这股以 “后现代主义”命名的社会文化和艺术思潮已经影响了我们的生活和思维习惯，认清楚它的性质和来龙去脉，有助于我们文化选择的自觉和对艺术创作的价值和形态取向上信心的明朗。因此，对“后现代主义”文化思潮的研究和认识，对于我国现代文化形态的自觉意义重大。
“How mang post modernists there are ,there are how many post modernism as well”which illustrates conceptual own faintness, fruitfulness and chanciness of post modernism. Although it originated from those features of western society,culture and art themselves and their intangibilities of development. But under the context of globalization especially since “May Four”,our country’s course of modernization construction taken western as standard in proceeding,will irresistibly conflict and cross swords under the slogan of “Science” and “Democracy”.Especially reform and the opening to the outside world of 1980S and gradual promotion of market economy of 1990S,it presents the urgency for the form of traditional culture to transform and western culture identity to define:which not only relates to the reconstructing problem of modern system in native culture,also could affect confident problem of the direction of modernization constriction in long time .The research on post modernism will help us see through to western society and dilemma and problems faced by culture ,which is undoubtedly valuable consultant as to from construction of modern culture in our country .Furthermore ,this gushes of cultural and art thoughts named as “post modernism”has affected our habits of lift and thinking .It will help us in cultural choose consciousness and confident clearness on orientations of value and form on art creation through recognizing its feature,cause and effect.Therefore,the research and recognition on cultural thoughts of “post modernism”are important to conscious meaning of modern cultural form in our country.
