文字的发明，终于使人类社会摆脱蒙昧无序的状态而进入文明的历程，当人类的思想、生活以及他们所处社会的事件与行为得以用文字记录下来时，世界文明便清晰地展现开来。文明的进步，文化的发展更取决于文字是否能为社会大众所掌握。 根据世界设计史的完整叙述，人类对于设计观念的形成应该是始于人类开始利用象形符号记录自己的思想。原始人类为了记录自己的思想、活动、成就，最初是直接利用图形的形式去表达，但单纯的图形形式对表达比较抽象的思维概念与情感的传达和能力是有限的。因此，伴随着人类文明史的同步发展，无论是楔形文字，或是象形文字，由于单字本身构造的复杂性、记忆与掌握是极为困难的，也有碍于世界文化的传播与交流，时代需要一种新的文字体系从根本上改变文字在传播上的弊端，字母便走在了文明进步的前列。 西方字母文字体系的出现则是从根本上改变了人类书面传达的方式，也影响了平面设计创造的途径和方式，提高了人们掌握文字的速度和时间，促进了社会的发展和进步。当字母打破了它固有的表达方式，成为一种全新的文字体系时，汉字也沿着中国古文明的造字方式出现了，它以“象形”为本源的文字符号表达是一种对对象的概括、模仿、再现与提炼，它具有字母无法比拟的意象美，我们把每个文字当作单独的一个形式个体的设计方式使之趋于独立和完整，对文字笔画内部的疏密关系和他们之间的疏密关系进行着认真地设计，每个时代的精神、文明的发展，都在文字身上得以充分地展现。当一篇文章变成疏密有序的一系列几何图形的连续排列时，文字以文学语言转换为视觉图形语言，从而使文字艺术设计在新的意义上具有了一个完整的视觉形貌，呈现了以文字为主体的形式，文字设计在传播和延续人类文明中发挥了相当重要的作用。 平面设计与文字艺术是同源形成相互发展的同一领域，许多设计家也在创作着以文字为主要形式风格的优秀作品。现代设计领域中的艺术家和设计家敏感地触觉到新时代发展的必然性，文字已不仅仅单纯地传递信息，而是更多的追求个性化、风格化的形式语言。将文字设计图形化，不受地域、文化背景限制，使不识其文者通过图形能够“看”出其意、识其文者能“读”出其理，如果说传统的文字表达方式以叙述内容为主，那么，现代文字的表达形式则富有感染性的视觉表现，即具有一种特殊的艺术形式魅力。 尤其当代信息技术的发展与计算机的广泛普及应用，对于文字的形态、风格及审美把握，从传统的单一阅读性的文化传播媒介，日益发展并转化为图形化的符号，它所具有的文化内涵、审美属性、图形语言的特定样式以及视觉传播价值、民族风格与地域文化特色等，都将成为国内外学界、设计界关注的研究内容与图形语言的开发对象。 本文试图通过文字的起源和发展与其在平面设计中的作用，从视觉审美角度、历史角度、文化发展角度以及信息化时代背景下的设计家的创作，剖析平面设计领域文字艺术设计在平面设计中的重要性和前瞻性。
With the development of characters ,the human beings finally are moving to the course of civilization without ignorance .when people write down their thoughts , lives and the incidents happened in their time , the world"s civilization emerges explicitly . The progress of civilization ,as well as the development of culture ,on a highly degree ,depends on whether characters can be mastered by the mass.According to the world"s designing history , the forming of men"s notion of designing should originatel from the beginning of using hieroglyph to express their thoughts . At first , primitive humans use figures directly to express and record their thoughts activities and achievements . However , figures themselves are not enough to express some thoughts especially for some abstract concepts and feelings . Therefore , with the development of the human"s history of civilization the forming of recording thoughts developed from hieroglyphs as frescoes , paintings carved on stones , ancient Egypion pictographic writings the core to a little bit abstract , much-improved early character system , such as ancient Babylonian cuneiform characters with the characteristic of pressing wedges on the clay , and the Chinese characters combined by shapes , meanings and sounds . The emergence of western alphabetic script system basically changes the way that people write , and affects the method of plane design and creation , and also improves the speed and time that people learn characters . So it improves the development and progress of the society . The decorating system of Roman letters has decorated lines and the way that each letter is regarded as itself makes it more independent and complete . Moreover , the space inside the letter and that between letters is carefully designed , then a whole passage turns out to be a series of geometric figures in order . Accordingly , the design of character! art got a complete appearance in a new way . Hence , character design plays an important role in spreading and continuing human"s civilization .As plane design and character art are in the same field originated fromthe same thing . and develop mutually , many designers are creating some excellent works forming basically on characters . Take a famous Japanese designer kikutsisingi for example , he has a novel feeling by using characters Japan as his decorating subject on a cover of a magazine .In modern designing field , artists and designers sensitively sense the inevitability of the development in modern times : characters not merely express information but pursue for individuality and style . Now that narration is the mainstream of traditional means of character expressing , then strong visual forn of expression , a special art manifestation , is the characteristic of that in modern times .As the development of modern information technology and the popularization and application of computes , the acknowledgement of the form , style and appreciation of characters undergoes from its traditional cultural implications , aesthetic attribute , the style of nationality . and regional cultural characteristics , etc would be the objects that the study and designing fields both home and abroad focus on .Through the origin and development of characters and their influence in plane design , this article explores the importance and the foresight of character art design in place design in view of visual aesthetics , history , the development of culture , and designers" works in this information era .
