After wide and deep research, the domestic and abroad scholars proposed multiple optimization methods. But these methods have limitation in practical application. Practicality optimization method is an important subject in water supply networks in towns. In this thesis optimum design, the layout of water supply networks and the hydraulic analysis of the network system are introduced, and research is carried out. Using system theory, mathematic models are set up on various water supply conditions, the effect factors of economic parameters to the optimized calculation results are discussed. System analysis to the solving method of network system model is brought out. The optimization result of standard optimization arithmetic is a continuous variable, while the real pipe diameter is a discontinuous variable. The results of standard optimization may not satisfy the design requirements. This research combined WAD—a kind of optimization design software for pipe supply networks with standard optimization. Arithmetic simulation is carried out based on the water supply networks in Pi-xian county and a town in Chongqing city. As a result limitation of the standard optimization is improved greatly in practical use. Exploitation on practical optimal design methods is proceed. This thesis is of guide significance to the optimal design of water supply networks in towns.
