乡土地理的教学始终是中学地理教学的重要内容，自近代区域地理学诞生之日就奠定了它在地理学中应有的地位。随着新时期基础教育改革的深化和推进，也带动了乡土地理教学的新一轮发展，新地理课程标准更加突出了乡土地理教学，对乡土地理教学给予了高度重视，进一步把乡土地理作为地方课程综合性学习的载体，让学生学以致用，培养他们的地理实践能力，树立科学的发展观，增强爱祖国、爱家乡的情感。因此，在新课程的背景下应如何进行和开展乡土地理教学就很值得探索与研究，该论文的目的就是为了探索乡土地理教学的规律，为乡土地理教学寻找一条切实可行的途径。 该文正文共分四个部分，即新课程标准下中学乡土地理教学的目的和意义、新课程标准下中学乡土地理教学概述、新课程标准下中学乡土地理教学的实施、以及新课程标准下中学乡土地理教学存在的问题及建议，论文的第一部分分析了中学乡土地理教学的目的和意义；第二部分阐述了新课程背景下乡土地理教学的基本内容、特点以及教学形式和学习方式；论文第三部分首先阐述了乡土地理教学实施中对地理教师的要求、乡土地理教学资源的建设等问题，在此基础上提出了初高中乡土地理教学的实施策略，为了增强从事乡土地理教学的一线教师在实际工作中进行乡土地理教学的实践能力，本部分提供了许多乡土地理教学案例，这些教学案例为老师们在新课程标准下如何进行乡土地理教学，提供了很好的借鉴作用；论文的最后根据地理课程标准新理念和乡土地理教学的发展趋势，从乡土地理教学的现状出发，分析了新课程标准下乡土地理教学存在的问题并提出了一些建议，希望有助于今后乡土地理课程的顺利实施。
Local geography teaching has been an important content in senior middle school geography teaching. Since Modern Regional Geography came into being, it has deserved the role it should be in geography. With the development and advancement of Basic Education Reform, local geography teaching also meets a new round of development. New geography course standard not only gives prominence to local geography but also attaches importance to it. In order to let the students study for the purpose of application, develop their geography practicing ability, set up the science development view, and cultivate students to love their country and hometown, the new geography course further becomes the carrier of integrated study of local course. So, under the new course background, it is worth to explore and research how to carry on local geography teaching. This papers goal is to explore the local geography teaching rule and to seek an appropriate way for the local geography teaching.The main text can be divided into four parts, that is, the aims and meanings, summarization, actualization and the existing problems and advice of the geography teaching in middle school under the criterion of the new course. The first part of the research paper made an analysis on the aims and meanings of the teaching of local geography. The second part expatiates on the basic content and characteristic under the context of the new course and also on the forms of the teaching of local geography and learning mode of the local geography . The third part of the research paper tells about the requirements for the geography teacher in the teaching of local geography in Junior and Senior middle school, the problem of building the teaching resources of the local geography. Several strategies for carrying out the teaching on the teaching of local geography have been offered under those basis talked before, in order to improve the practicing ability of the teacher standing in the battle front of teaching of local geography. This part offers many instances of geography teaching, which provides for teachers the new concepts of the new course standard and tenderly of the teaching of local geography and it also made an analysis on the problems still existing under the context
