该文论述了我国环境报道的产生和环境报道在新闻媒体中的地位、作用，从内容、形式、风格、舆论引导与监督等方面论述了环境报道的特征，分析了我国环境报道目前存在的一些问题，包括受重视程度不够、整体质量不高、“联合”报道的缺乏等，探讨了解决这些问题的方法，即从环境报道本身、媒体、记者队伍、受众等方面入手，以促进环境报道的健康发展。
