本文以语用原则为理论基石来探讨非言语交际的应用和理解。与以往的研究不同，论文从语用角度来剖析非言语交际，旨在运用语用学的相关原理来正确合理地阐释非言语符号。非言语交际可分成身势语，空间的使用，时间的利用，副语言和服饰语五个方面。总的说来，非言语交际具备三种特征，这些特征的存在客观上不仅要求我们可以从跨文化的层面耒剖析非言语符号，而且还可以运用其他科学的研究方法来合理阐释。为了达到该研究目的，论文主要以语用学的言语行为理论，合作原则和关联理论为理论基石阐明非言语交际。全文按照以下顺序展开：首先分别谈到了语用学的相关原理，并辅以相应的言语交际中的具体实例来做铺垫，在此基础上详尽论述了语用原则在非言语交际的五种领域中的具体应用。论证过程中，通过旁征博引，多方取证，搜集到了诸多在具体语境中出现的详尽的实例，既有正式场合中出现的非言语符号，也有人们日常生活中普遍存在的非言语标记，这些均从不同侧面详细阐明了语用原则在非言语交际中的具体应用。正如语用原则广泛地应用在言语交际中一样，它们同样可以适用在非言语交际的场合，其对非言语交际的解释和指导作用应该引起研究者的足够重视。当然论文同时论述了非言语交际的功能以及在课堂教学中教师应如何审视非言语交际。从而可以断言非言语交际同样遵循着语用原则，我们可以从语用的角度耒研究非言语符号的应用。总之在研究非言语交际的过程中，尽管有不同的方法，但采用语用分析的方法不失为一种更好的策略。
In this thesis, nonverbal communication is explored from a new perspective. This thesis attempts to elaborate on the investigation of nonverbal cues under the rubric of pragmatic principles. Five kinds of nonverbal signs are involved: kinesics, proxemics, chronemics, paralanguage, and dress and physical appearance. In order to make it manifest, the paradigm of nonverbal communication is primarily explicated in terms of speech act theory, cooperative principle and relevance theory. This thesis initially demonstrates pragmatic principles. Thereupon their adoption in verbal communication is briefly captured. Subsequently, their application in nonverbal communication is highlighted, involving adequate cases in point, home and abroad. On this occasion, the thesis manages to integrate theory with practice. Therefore we may come to realize-just as pragmatic principles are successfully applied to verbal communication, so they can also be exploited in nonverbal interaction. At last, much light is shed on the function and application of nonverbal communication in classroom conditions. In consequence, the aim of this thesis is accomplished by appealing to pragmatics. To a large extent, nonverbal communication conforms to pragmatic principles as well. A consensus is ultimately reached: on the matter of nonverbal communication, there exist many available approaches among which pragmatic solution remains convincing. In aword, pragmatic principles can underlie the application and interpretation of nonverbal communication.
